Another trip around the sun.
A study done at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin found that as we get older, our mental abilities, like being able to remember things and quickly understand complex ideas, become more stable. According to the study, it all comes down to our experiences. As we get older, we learn how to finish tasks, stay motivated, and keep our daily lives in balance because of what we've done in the past.
And, as I get ready to once again celebrate a trip around the sun, I'm beginning to think that it may be more appropriate to count age not in years but in life's many treasures: the people you've met, the things you've seen, the lessons you've learned, the incredible moments you've experienced, and the friendships you've forged.
